Matt Visits Queen’s Hill School and Nursery for Dodgeball Sessions
Hi everyone, it’s Matt here! Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Queen’s Hill School and Nursery, and I have to say, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. I delivered three dodgeball sessions, and right from the moment I walked in, the welcome I received from both staff and children was fantastic. Everyone made me feel so comfortable, which really set the tone for a brilliant day.
The children were simply amazing — full of energy, enthusiasm, and really engaged in every activity. It was such a positive environment, and it felt incredible to be part of it. During the sessions, we explored all the great benefits of dodgeball. It’s not just a fun game; it’s a sport that’s incredibly inclusive, teaches honesty, and really encourages teamwork. I designed a few different games focused on supporting teammates, helping friends, and working together to achieve goals. The children threw themselves into it and it was fantastic to see them learning and having fun at the same time.
One of the things that really impressed me was the culture around sport at Queen’s Hill. I had a great chat with the Head of PE and got a real insight into the opportunities the children have. The school clearly puts a huge emphasis on giving every child the chance to play and enjoy sport, and the facilities are excellent. It’s clear that sport is not just an extra activity here — it’s a core part of helping children grow, develop, and build confidence.
I’m really excited about building on the relationship I’ve started with Queen’s Hill. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be returning for several more morning sessions to deliver dodgeball to other year groups, so even more children can enjoy the benefits of this brilliant game. I can’t wait to see the kids I worked with yesterday grow even more in confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment of sport.
Overall, it was a brilliant, energising, and really positive day. Huge thanks to everyone at Queen’s Hill School and Nursery for making me feel so welcome. Days like this are exactly why I love what I do — getting to share fun, active experiences with children and help them develop skills that go beyond sport is always so rewarding.
I’m already looking forward to the next visit and to continuing to foster this great relationship with the school. Another fantastic experience in the books!
