What a fantastic day we had at Grove House Infant School today! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff — it really set the tone for what turned out to be a truly special day.
We kicked things off with a whole-school assembly, where we spoke about some really important themes — resilience, teamwork, and the power of never giving up. The children were so engaged, full of energy, and ready to take on the day ahead.
Following assembly, it was time for some action! We delivered PE sessions across Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 — and what an amazing effort from all the children! Each session focused on a mix of individual challenges and team challenges, encouraging everyone to work hard, support each other, and most importantly — have fun while keeping active. There was plenty of dancing, boogieing, and laughter along the way, which is exactly what these days are all about!
In the afternoon, Jak and I ran a series of team sports sessions, building on our theme of teamwork and resilience. It was great to see the children really embrace the activities, showing fantastic effort and enthusiasm. We also spoke to them about how they can stay active at home, giving them simple ideas to keep moving, smiling, and feeling great.
Before we knew it, 2:30 had arrived — time for our celebration assembly! This is always a highlight of the day. We handed out our special trophy to one child who had really stood out, showing determination, effort, and teamwork. It was such a tough decision because every single child gave their all!

We also presented medals to children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2, as chosen by their teachers, along with sports achievement certificates to recognise fantastic effort and participation. Every child received a sticker and an ICS flyer, giving them the opportunity to become a free ICS member — because everyone deserves to feel part of the team!
Overall, it was a really positive, uplifting, and energetic day. The children were a credit to Grove House Infant School, and the staff’s enthusiasm and support made the day even better. A huge thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome — we can’t wait to come back!
Thanks for reading.
Matt & Jak
