School in Focus: Terrington St Clement Community School

A traditional school with traditional values — where we aspire, succeed, and thrive

Friday afternoons at Terrington St Clement Community School are always a highlight of my week. There’s something truly special about stepping into a school where the atmosphere is so positive and where every member of staff genuinely cares about the children’s growth and wellbeing.

From the very first day, I’ve been welcomed with warmth and support. The staff here aren’t just helpful — they’re passionate about giving children the best possible experiences, and that passion is infectious. It makes Fridays something I genuinely look forward to.

Our sessions are never the same twice. One week we might focus on building physical skills like balance, coordination, and movement. The next, we might explore teamwork, communication, or resilience. But whether it’s sport, play, or problem-solving, the goal is always the same: helping children grow in confidence, learn to work together, and understand the importance of effort, attitude, and perseverance.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a child achieve something new or watch them develop a skill they didn’t think they had. It’s moments like these that make the school feel like more than a place to learn — it’s a place to thrive.

Our Friday After School Club

When I first started teaching at Terrington St Clement around two and a half years ago, our Friday after-school club had just four children signed up. Fast forward to now, and we have over 26 attending every week, with numbers still growing!

It’s been amazing to see how much the club has developed — and a lot of that comes down to the brilliant staff who’ve helped promote it and the children who bring their energy every week. One of my favourite parts is letting the children have a say in what they want to do. Their input shapes the sessions, and I think that’s a big reason why the club has become so popular.

Breakfast Club — The Next Challenge

We also run a Breakfast Club at Terrington, which gives children the chance to start their morning with some fun and physical activity. It’s still in the early stages compared to our after-school club, but the goal now is to help it grow in the same way — and I’m really looking forward to seeing that happen.

Celebrating Dodgeball Success!

Finally, I have to mention the nine children who represented Terrington in our ICS x Positive Life Experiences Dodgeball Tournament. They were absolutely brilliant — showing great sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience throughout.

Their effort was rewarded too, as they’ve successfully qualified for the semi-finals! It’s such a proud moment, and it really sums up what this school is all about: hard work, respect, and a great attitude.

Working with Terrington St Clement is always a pleasure. The combination of supportive staff, enthusiastic children, and a shared commitment to giving every pupil a positive experience through sport makes it a brilliant environment to be part of.

I’m really proud of how far things have come — and even more excited about what’s still to come.
