School in Focus: Swanton Morley Primary School

This week I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Swanton Morley Primary School, and what a fantastic experience it was! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel so welcome, which set the tone for a really enjoyable day.

On Wednesday, I had the chance to introduce the children to something a little different – Pickleball! For many, it was their very first time playing this unique sport, but you wouldn’t have guessed it. The children were awesome – picking up new skills so quickly, giving it their all, and most importantly, having fun. It was brilliant to see their enthusiasm and energy as they learned something new.

I’m also really pleased to share that our After School Club at Swanton Morley is led by Liam (Mr Whiting) every Tuesday. He’ll be starting again this coming week, and I know he can’t wait to see everyone back. It’s also been a really enjoyable first month back at school for all of us at ICS Coaching. We’ve loved being back delivering sessions, clubs, and activities, and we want to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has been a part of it so far.

On a personal note, I often think back to the role sport played in my own life growing up. It gave me confidence, friendships, and life lessons that have stayed with me into adulthood. Those experiences are exactly what inspire me to create more opportunities for children today. Sport isn’t just about playing a game — it’s about building skills, growing in confidence, and carrying those positives into every part of life.
